The fault in our 5G ?
One of the big promise of 5G is speed. Data from operators like Singtel has shown proven speeds of 1 Gbps on 3.5 GHz.(1)
Ofcourse , this needs to be seen how the speeds hold up when the actual commercial rollouts happen at mass scale.
But it seems the 5G reality has not matched the hype at least in the United States.
U.S. consumers can already complain that they pay highest per GB in the world .(2)
And the US consumers already are used to lower speeds compared to rest of the world ( 3 )and seems the US carriers are in no mood to change that situation with 5G.
A recent report by OpenSignal analyses the 5G download speeds in many countries and US ranked last in the 12 country survey.
So given this state of 5G should US consumers be really so excited about 5G / 5 G devices aka Iphone 12 ?
